Outline
Workshop/Arbeitstreffen
Planning and implementing a communication skills curriculum in medical education start with the definition of theoretical backgrounds, competencies, and educational objectives students have to achieve during their course of study. Outcomes and objectives are the foundation for a blueprint for teaching and learning tools, assessment, and evaluation. The workshop gives the opportunity to discuss the Basel Consensus Statement "communicative and social competencies in medical education", existing blueprints, didactic methods, and assessment tools. The participants will develop a first draft of a communication skills curriculum and explore the relevance for their own teaching and learning environment. Additionally, first results of a cross sectional study will be presented on how communication skills are presently trained and assessed in the German speaking countries.
