Background: A 48 year old male with glioblastoma multiforme presented despite an antiedematous steroid medikation after tumor´s extirpation, radio-and chemotherapy with a bilateral serous retinal ablation and visual loss to light projection.
Methods: By performing an immediate pars plana vitrectomy and a filling with silcon oil a good visual rehabilitation was achieved.
Results: Four weeks post operatively the visual acuity was R/L 0,2/0,16. With a reduced prognosis ad vitam blindness due to ratiation could be prevented.
Conclusion: A prompt pars plana vitrectomy with silicon oil tamponation is to be prefered at serous retinal ablation causes by radiation
