Introduction: This study was designed to improve the characteristics of a stomabutton according to the individual anatomical conditions.

Material and method: 53 computer-assisted tomograms of patients with a tracheostoma were evaluated. The testing of the newly developed stomabutton was carried out in 12 patients.

Results: An angle of 63 degree between stoma and trachea was measured in CT-analysis. This angle was realized in the newly developed stomabutton. The skin coloured silicon material can be well processed and has a high wearing comfort.

Conclusions: The construction of the newly developed stomabutton combines the advantages of conventional stomabuttons with these of short tubes, it is compatible with common accessories and it is adapted individually to anatomical characteristics of a patient.
