Mixed methods research is becoming increasingly more popular amongst researchers conducting basic research as well as amongst reviewers combining evidence from quantitative, qualitative or mixed-method research papers in their systematic reviews. In this contribution we will present a framework, developed by researchers from the Centre for Methodological Research, KU Leuven, to perform mixed method systematic reviews. There are at least 18 different mixed methods designs that can be opted for. Some of them will be illustrated with an already published or hypothetical example of a systematic review.
