Introduction: In a retrospective study of cases Chorioretinitis due to Toxoplasmosis prognostic factors should be evaluated.
Subject: 71 patients could be evaluated, mostly with bilateral scarring and recurring Chorioretinitis.
Results: In 2/3 at least one recurrence in the course of for years up to seven fold could be found. Both sides were equally represented. Recurrences occurred more in the right eye. In cases of recurrences the central retina was hit in most cases. In 80% the recurrence was near or at the rim of the scarring.
Function recovery seams to be dependent on the antibiotic scheme.
Discussion: In most cases the central retina was involved. Due to the recurrences and the few peripher scars a central disposition can be assumed. Adequate antibiotic and chemotherapy scheme can influence the healing process positively. This is of most importance, since the recurrences are in most cases at the central part of the old scars.
